To achieve a Class 5 driver’s licence in Quebec, you’ll need to follow several steps, beginning with enrolling in an approved driving course. After you’ve taken your driving course, you may apply for your learner’s licence following a written knowledge test and driving test. The written test will be comprised of three parts: 16 questions on rules and regulations, 16 questions on road signs and traffic signals, and 32 questions on driving behaviours. Questions are pulled from the {current year} Quebec Driver’s Handbook, the Driving a Passenger Vehicle manual, and the Road Access Binder. You will be required to correctly answer at least 13 of the 16 questions in both smaller portions of the test, and 26 of the 32 questions on behaviours to pass and be eligible for a probationary licence. You must be at least 16 and have parental consent before you may hold a learner’s licence and pay a $58.64 fee. Once you have held your learner licence for a minimum of 10 months, you may take your written exam, and your licence will function as your identification at the testing centre. Your knowledge test will cost $11.20 and is offered in multiple languages including English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin, or as an audio format in English or French. Study with the driving handbooks and practice for your test using tools like this practice test. If you’re not able to pass the test on the first try, you’ll have to wait another 28 days, make another appointment, and repay the fee to try to pass the test again.
