Ready to earn your Class 5L learner’s licence in Manitoba? Our Free 2025 Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) Learner’s Practice Driving Quiz contains 20 multiple-choice questions to help you succeed on your first try. It mirrors the style and challenge of the official exam and is grounded in the 2025 edition of the Manitoba Driver’s Handbook. Each question provides instant feedback, creating an interactive experience that is much more efficient than standard study methods.

The official knowledge exam includes 30 multiple-choice questions, and you’ll need to get at least 25 (83%) correct within a 30-minute time limit to pass. The exam is available in English and over 20 other languages and administered by appointment at an MPI Service Centre or mobile service unit. If you don’t pass on the first try, you must wait seven days before retaking the exam. Our practice quizzes are designed to help you avoid that delay.

To apply for a Class 5L learner’s licence, you must be at least 16 years old (or 15½ if you’re currently enrolled in the Driver Z program at school). Applicants under 18 require written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Once you pass the vision and knowledge tests and submit any applicable health documentation, you’ll pay a licence fee and base driver premium to begin driving (in Manitoba, the premium helps to cover the basic Manitoba Public Insurance model).

Under the Graduated Driver License (GDL) program, regardless of age, learner drivers begin in the Learner Stage (Class 5L) for a minimum of nine months, during which they must drive with a qualified supervisor, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and avoid restricted driving activities. After passing your road test, you’ll advance to the Intermediate Stage (Class 5I) for at least 15 more months, and finally transition to a Full Stage (Class 5F) licence.

Test one of our five available practice tests (some free, others with additional features for premium members) sharpens your preparation for the knowledge exam. Be sure to check out all our other Manitoba Knowledge Exam Practice Tests, including our Premium offerings, to be fully prepared!
