In Manitoba, holding a Class 3 commercial driver’s licence opens up a wide variety of job opportunities. Class 3 vehicles are typically single-unit trucks with three or more axles. These vehicles come in a vast number of different configurations. Class 3 trucks commonly used in Manitoba include concrete mixers, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, vacuum trucks, water trucks, and single-unit snowplow and sanding trucks. Our Manitoba Class 3 Licence Practice Test is here to help!
To apply for a Class 3 commercial driver’s licence in Manitoba, you must be at least 18 years old, hold a Class 5A (Authorized Instruction) or 5I (Intermediate Stage) driver’s licence at minimum, submit a Medical Examination Report, and pass a vision screening test.
Next, you must pass a Manitoba Class 3 knowledge test on the theory of driving Class 3 vehicles. You must score at least 80% to pass. Passing the test enables you to obtain Class 3 Authorized Instruction, which will allow you to practice commercial driving under supervision. Your supervising driver must have held a minimum Class 5F driver’s licence for at least three years, including at least two years with a Class 3 licence. Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) is not required for a Class 3 licence in Manitoba.
For a Class 3 licence, you should also obtain an Air Brakes endorsement on your Class 3 licence because most Class 3 vehicles in Manitoba have air brakes. To do this, start by passing the official Air Brake knowledge test. To obtain the Air Brakes endorsement, you must also pass the official practical air brake test before or with your Class 3 road test.
