Aiming to obtain a British Columbia Class 3 commercial driver’s licence? That’s a great choice for a wide selection of truck driving jobs, and our ICBC Class 3 Knowledge Practice Test is here to help!

In British Columbia, Class 3 vehicles (single-unit trucks with three or more axles) are essential to the province’s diverse economy. These vehicles come in a vast number of configurations to meet the diverse requirements of industries such as forestry, construction, waste management, and municipal services. In British Columbia, Class 3 drivers are commonly employed by municipal governments, public works departments, private contractors, waste and recycling firms, and companies supporting the forestry, energy, and transportation sectors. Common Class 3 trucks include concrete mixers, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, hydrovac trucks, vacuum trucks, and garbage and recycling trucks. Many Class 3 trucks have air brakes, so you should consider getting an Air Brake Endorsement as well.

To upgrade to a British Columbia Class 3 commercial driver’s licence, you must be at least 18 years old, pass a vision test, and disclose any medical conditions that might impair safe driving. In addition, you must have held a full-privilege British Columbia Class 5 or 6 licence with fewer than four penalty-point incidents for the past two years.

Next, you must pass two official knowledge tests: a road signs test and a British Columbia Class 3 knowledge test. You must score at least 80% on each test to pass. Passing these tests enables you to obtain a Class 3 learner’s licence, which will allow you to practice commercial driving under supervision.

When you feel ready, you may take the road test for a Class 3 licence. The road test will include a pre-trip inspection test. You must take these tests in a Class 3 vehicle.

Finally, ask your doctor to complete a Driver’s Medical Examination Report form and send it to RoadSafety BC. They will decide whether you’re medically fit to drive Class 3 vehicles.

If you want more intensive study to ensure you pass the Class 3 knowledge exam on your first try, we’ve got what you’re looking for!
