To obtain a Class 7 learner’s licence in Alberta, an individual must be at least 14 years old (the youngest age of all provinces and territories!), pass a vision screening and the Class 7 Knowledge Exam, present valid government-issued identification, and, if under 18, provide written parental or guardian consent. Formal driver’s training is recommended but not required for a Class 7 licence in Alberta. A significant part of the Alberta Class 7 Knowledge Exam is the traffic signs and road situations section. If you fail the exam, you must wait one day and pay an additional fee to retake the test. Our Alberta Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test is designed to help you ace this part of the knowledge exam on your first attempt.

Once the requirements are met and you receive a Class 7 Learner’s Licence, you may drive under supervision with these restrictions: you must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver in the front seat, and no driving from midnight to 5 a.m. These restrictions are part of Alberta’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) system. It helps new drivers gain experience safely through a three-stage process: Class 7 (Learner’s Licence), Class 5-GDL (Probationary Licence), and the full Class 5 licence. Note that the GDL program and its holding periods apply to all new drivers, including adults.

The Alberta Knowledge Exam (available in 25 languages) comprises 30 multiple-choice questions covering road rules, traffic control signs, right-of-way principles, and defensive driving strategies. You must take the exam at a registry agent office. Understanding Alberta’s traffic signs and road situations is essential for safe driving and passing the Alberta Driver’s Knowledge Exam. The exam assesses a driver’s ability to interpret road signs, understand right-of-way rules, and react appropriately to various traffic conditions. You must correctly answer at least 25 out of 30 (83%) questions to pass.

Our Alberta Traffic Signs and Road Situations Practice Test is based on the most recent version of the Alberta Driver’s Guide. It contains 30 multiple-choice questions to assess your knowledge of traffic signs and road situations. It includes immediate explanations for each response, ensuring you pass this part of the official knowledge test on your first attempt.
